June 2009 - UPGRADES UPGRADES UPGRADES!!!

We are pleased to announce that we have increased the diskspace and bandwidth allocations on ALL of our cPanel™ based web hosting plans. Our Small Web Hosting plan has had it's diskspace and bandwidth nearly doubled, up to 200MB and 4000MB respectively. ALL of our other cPanel™ hosting plans have had their diskspace and bandwidth DOUBLED!!!

We are rolling out these free hosting plan upgrades as part of our continuing improvements to our products and services. Over our 8 years of operation, we have continued to regularly provide our web hosting clients with more and more value to our products and services.

We have also upgraded our Medium Web Plan, so you can now host two website's on that single hosting plan. Our Extreme web plan has also been upgraded to allow you to host up to 50 website's.

August 2008 - We Have Upgraded Our Web Hosting Plans Again!

We have increased the Diskspace Allocation on two of our cPanel™ based hosting plans. Our Small Web Hosting plan has had it's diskspace increased by 20% to 120MB, while our Medium Web Hosting plans has been increased 25% to 250MB! We are also planning a number of other improvements over the next few months, so watch this space...

MySQL 5 released on Corporate & Business Hosting Plans

We are pleased to announce that MySQL 5 has now been released for all users of our Corporate & Business Class Web Hosting Plans. If you are currently on either of these plans and would like to use MySQL 5, please contact us, and we will add it to your account. All new accounts will have MySQL 5 added automatically.

XTRA Customers visiting our website

Over the last month we have noticed a massive increase in web traffic to our website from Xtra Customers, who are seeking information about Xtra / Yahoos / Telecom's recent email problems. Xtras problems are linked to their new Yahoo Xtra Bubble service, which has encountered many problems, and has meant that some Xtra customers haven't been able to check their email for up to a week. We are surprised at how many professional New Zealand business, still use the free email address that their ISP provides, for their businesses email. Not only does an ISPs based email address look unprofessional to other businesses, it is also not owned by you, as it uses your ISPs domain name, so you will lose the email address it if you ever change ISP. The best solution for professional businesses, is for them to use their own domain name based email address, such as email@youdomain.co.nz. Domain based email addresses are the only long term email solution, allowing you to change ISP providers at any time without losing your email address. If you are an Xtra business customer who has website and email hosting services with Xtra, and you are dissatisfied with Xtras service, please email us about transferring your email and web hosting services to our services. Not only are we cheaper than Xtra, but our hosting plans are also better and more feature rich.

August News - cPanel Interface Upgrade!

The cPanel™ interface has been upgraded to the new X3 interface. The X3 interface has been designed to work with the new cPanel 11 software upgrade, which we completed last month. The new X3 interface offers many advantages over the old X2 interface, including new tools and features, and a new file manager system. Clients who have not yet been upgraded, will be upgraded in due course.

Late Breaking July News 2007 - We Have Upgraded Our Web Hosting Plans Again!

We have increased the Diskspace Allocation on all cPanel™ based hosting plans again. Our Small Web Hosting plan has had it's diskspace DOUBLED! Other hosting plans have also been enlarged substantially. We have also introduced a new hosting plan named the Extreme Web Plan and more information on this new plan can be found by clicking here.

July 2007 - Multi Website Hosting Plans

We have upgrade both our Large and Super Web Hosting plans, so you can now host more addon websites on these plans. You can now host a total of 5 websites on our Large Web Plan, and a total of 10 websites on our Super Web Plan. These addon websites can be setup inside your CPanel control Panel. You can also now park additional domains on top of your primary domain name, if you have more than one domain that you want to use with your website.

June 2007 - Hosting Plans Upgraded... ...CPanel Upgraded to Version 11

We have Fantastic and Exciting News...

Firstly, we have increased both the Diskspace and Bandwidth Allocations on most of our CPanel Web Hosting Plans. Our Medium, Large, and Super plans have all been upgraded! We have also increased the number of Email Accounts, FTP Accounts, MySQL Databases and Sub domains. Current clients will be automatically upgraded to these upgraded plans.

Secondly, the much anticipated CPanel 11 upgrade has now been installed on the CPanel servers. It offers many improvements over CPanel 10, mostly in the backend of the software. This upgrade to CPanel 11 is a required part of our continual upgrading of software to keep the servers current and as secure as possible. February 2007 - IHUG websites hacked

It has been reported in the NZ media, that nearly 600 websites, mainly hosted by iHug, have been hacked and defaced. iHug is a web host provider that is owned by Vodafone New Zealand. The websites were hosted with ISP Quik, which iHug purchased last year.
This issue has not affected any websites that are hosted by us. We always make sure that the servers we use are kept up to date with the latest server software, to maintain server security to a very high level. If you are a Quik or iHug customer, and are interested in shifting your website to our network, please contact us.

This is also a timely reminder for everyone that may be running popular cms, bulletin board or other commonly used php/cgi scripts on their websites, to make sure that they are up to date with the latest security patches. If you are unsure, please contact your website developer. Running unsecured or old scripts on your website can open up your website to hackers.

October 2006 - .NZ Domain Registrations hit Quarter of a Million.

InternetNZ through the Office of the Domain Name Commissioner has recently announced that the number of domain name registrations of under the .nz top level domain reached 250,000 in October.

It was in September 2005 that registrations reached 200,000, having previously reached 150,000 in April 2004.

August 2006 - PHP5 now available on all hosting plans!

We are very happy to report that our upstream providers have installed PHP5 on the Concorde cPanel server alongside PHP4! This means you can use BOTH versions of php on your website. This is really a great thing to have so you can test things out and make sure that when the servers eventually move to php5, your site(s) are fully compliant.

All you need to do to take advantage of PHP5 is to add the following two lines to an .htaccess file to force .php files be handled by php5.

Clients on our Corporate Web Plan already have access to PHP5 and have had access since last year. Please note that as PHP5 is third party software, and we don't provide any form of support for it.

July 2006 - You can now register CO.UK , .US , & .TV domain names

As part of the continual improvements to the services we offer, we now provide domain registration of .CO.UK , .US , and .TV domain names. Register Yours Today...
.TV domain names can currently only be registered through our Domain Manager.

For clients on our Corporate or Business Class hosting plans, we have also integrated the Domain Manager into the Web Hosting Control Panel. This means clients only have to use the one control panel for managing both their Domain Name and Website hosting.
All other clients can continue to use our Domain Manager for the management of their domain names.

June 2006 - New Webmail and Statistics applications

For users of our Corporate and Business Plans, we are pleased to announce that we are upgrading the webmail and statistics reporting systems.These applications are now ready for general usage. Details regarding these new service offerings are as follows.

New Webmail System:

We have had many requests to implement a better webmail system. We have as a result now installed a webmail system named @mail.
The webmail system also includes a wap optimised website, so that you can comfortably access your email using many mobile devices.
The service will go live at http://webmail.mydns.net.nz on the 1st June 2006, until that time you can login to the system at http://webmail2.mydns.net.nz

The existing 'Horde' webmail will still be available at http://webmail2.mydns.net.nz for approximately 3 months, giving plenty of time for you to come to grips with @Mail.

Statistics Reporting

We have created a new web statistics application, that enables you to view advanced statistics reporting (AWstats) for all of your websites (both windows and linux hosted websites). On the linux platform we have also included webalizer as an alternative statistics package.The application also enables you to view raw web server access logs, error logs and optionally download them to your pc.

The system is live at present and can be viewed by using a temporary URL http://stats.mydns.net.nz/your_domain_name.co.nz/ (Please replace the your_domain_name.co.nz with your actual domain name) or by adding an A record for 'stats' pointing to 202.89.43.20 to your domain templates, you could use http://stats.your_domain_name.co.nz .We will be adding the 'stats' A record to our default domain template on the 1st June 2006.

We will discontinue processing the existing webalizer statistics located at http://your_domain_name.co.nz/stats or /statistics on the 1st June 2006 also. Historical statistics files have already been transferred over to the new system.

We hope that you find the new statistics reporting system of benefit to you.

May 2006 - Bandwidth DOUBLED On Most Hosting Plans!
To celebrate our 8th year of providing hosting to New Zealanders, we have DOUBLED the bandwidth allocation for most clients on our Small, Medium, Large, and Super Hosting plans for FREE. This also apply's to all new clients signing up to these hosting plans. As well as this, we are now providing the ability to host additional website's within our Large and Super Hosting plans for FREE.

April 2006 - Refreshed Website Launched
We have updated the look of our website, and simplified the SuperHost homepage.
In the coming months we will also be providing .co.uk and .us domain registrations through our website.

March 2006 - WebSite Builder Released for FREE
We have now added RVSiteBuilder to most of our cPanel™ hosting plans, and we are providing this to our clients who use cPanel™, for FREE. RVSiteBuilder is a quick and simple way to setup a professional looking website with ease, using just your web browser. Other web hosting providers will charge you for using this type of software, however we now provide it for FREE to most of our cPanel users. Click here for more info»

March 2006 - New Control Panel released
For our clients who use our Corporate Web Plan, the control panel has now been updated and has more features. It now also allows you to register and renew you domain names from directly within the hosting control panel.

January 2006 - SQL Server 2000 functionality added to Corporate Windows Plan
SQL Server 2000 is now available to users on our Corporate Windows Plan. An additional fee is required for the use of this service.
